Setting the Stage

True to who I generally am as a person, my blog is up… later than everyone else’s J

I will begin by letting you get a better idea of what a day in the life of Megan looks like. I normally rise and shine before the sun (about 5:30am), ready to face the day.

KIDDING. I love to sleep.

I normally wake up around 7:30 to shower and get ready for work. If I’m having an organized meal planning week I will have packed my lunch the night before and made a breakfast of ‘overnight oats’ to grab and go. Other days it’s grabbing various salad or sandwich ingredients to store in the fridge and prepare at my workplace (the Northwestern Health Unit) for lunch. Some weeks I'm really good about walking the 15 minutes to work, other mornings I much prefer to take advantage of that command start and drive to work.

A lot of time and energy in my life goes into physical activity and social outings. As an extroverted person I thrive in a busy and active schedule - I love the opportunity to join friends for dinner, go for lunch with co-workers, meet up for a ski or get on board with any last minute plans that sound fun. Throughout the challenge it is going to be very difficult to accommodate a full schedule within a limited budget.

Sam (friend and fellow challenge participant) and I did some meal planning leading up to the challenge and have arranged to prep and split bulk meals. We also met, checked the No Frills flier and did our shopping together. Here are the ingredients I purchased, the total came to approximately $23 (of my $55). I plan to make a vegetable and bean chilli and macaroni with tomato lentil sauce. Breakfasts will be boiled eggs, bananas and oatmeal, with boiled beets (if you know me, that won't surprise you) and yogurt for snacking. Milk and water will be the beverages of choice.

Stay tuned!
